The Philadelphia Orchestra in Concert on WRTI: Berlioz and a Young Cellist’s Debut, July 30, 1 PM
The third broadcast concert of the Philadelphia Orchestra’s 2016-17 season has an all-French theme and it’s yours to enjoy this Sunday, July 30th, at 1 pm and Monday, July 31st at 7 pm on HD-2, as WRTI presents The Philadelphia Orchestra in Concert.
The centerpiece of the program features a performance by the brilliant young French-Canadian cellist, Stéphane Tétreault, of Camille Saint-Saens’s Cello Concerto No 1. The 23-year-old cellist is the recipient of Bernard Greenhouse’s cello, the 1707 “Countess of Stainlein, ex-Paganini” Stradivarius, on generous loan by Mrs. Jacqueline Désmarais. Mr. Tétreault makes his Philadelphia Orchestra debut with this performance.
